Norberto Delgado Durán has been Minister of Economy and Finance since August of 2000. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Panama where he also completed postgraduate work in Higher Education. Since 1998 he has held a professorship at the Institute of Microfinance. He presently chairs and is the representative of the President of the Republic to the Executive Committee of the Darién Sustainable Project. During his professional career he has held the following posts: Vice Minister of Finance, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Social Investment Fund, Chairman of the Panamanian Autonomous Cooperative Institute, Commercial Vice President and Executive Director of MultiCredit Bank’s Department of Managerial Action, and Treasurer of the Metropolitan Kiwanis Club.
On February 11, 2004, Mr. Delgado was sworn in as member of the Board of Directors of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) for a nine-year term.
